NIA Virtual Conference
NIA Session: Use of Neurotechnology in Normal Brain Aging and Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and AD-Related Dementias (ADRD)
On April 27th the National Institute on Aging (NIA) hosted a virtual session to bring together researchers and clinicians from all over the country to share innovation in Neurotechnology in the field of Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia. The talk included over 150 virtual participants tuning in to hear 15 presenters discuss current advancements in technology to promote the detection, prevention, and intervention of neurodegenerative disease and related disorders. RP-CNBI’s Dr. Hampstead presented an overview of High Definition-Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (HD-tDCS) and how neuromodulation benefits participants differently depending on several factors, such as frequency and duration of sessions and the effect differences between individuals depending on diagnosis or idiographic presentation. He explained how these questions led to the creation of his current and ongoing study: Stimulation to Improve Memory (STIM). The conference showcased the continuation of collaboration and scientific inquiry during this uncertain time.
